Saturday Night Live has lost it…

They just did a Tiger Woods-Wife-is-a-violent-Tiger-attacker skit and then followed it up with Rihanna guest performing.

So let me get this straight: You have a skit about domestic violence then have a victim of domestic violence perform on your show? That’s just ingenious. Geez this show has gone downhill fast.

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss

Wow. I am sorry for those people who want a Led Zeppelin reunion. I’d understand why they’d want one–if they hadn’t heard his present (since 2007) and on-going collaboration with Alison Krauss. I FINALLY got into this album after hearing about it for so long. Pure amazing rock & roll. Some heavy, slow, driving songs (“Nothin’ “), some sad, and delicate, (“Please Read the Letter”) some funny, some super-catchy songs with awe-inspiring musical leanings (“Fortune Teller”, “Gone Gone Gone”) and dark or somewhat cynical undertones (“Trampled Rose”) make this absolutely as worthy as his forever-classic work with Led Zeppelin. History is still being made, people–after you hear this, you’ll stop in your tracks and your jaw will drop. Plant is in top form, and Alison’s voice changes from mournful and radiant, to scathingly light and sarcastic. “Raising Sand” is such a beautiful album! Now I know why it won the album of the year Grammy last year…

You know what I hate?

Getting heartburn when you’re already getting ready for bed and there’s no tums.
You know what else I hate? Myself for just making and drinking lemonade to give myself heartburn.

I feel like I should have a twitter for short posts like this, but I needed to share that. lol

ART IS EXPRESSION AFTER ALL–so I’m expressing away my dislike for such things!

Fantastic Mr. Fox

Ok, so this is officially one of the best movies of the year. The animation is AMAZING and makes it an instant art classic!

The humor and the voices are just spot-on, and I loved this movie so much I had to see it twice in theaters! “CONTACT!”

It’s also the most quotable movie I’ve seen in years.”

Here’s the trailer.

I love this piece of architecture…

The Barcelona Cathedral has got to be my favorite piece of art of all time. My favorite type of art is the Gothic cathedral, and this is just mind-blowing. I will have to see it before I die!

Graffiti: art or not?

I’m not kicking this dead horse: obviously it’s art. That is all.

Poetry…

This is called “10,000 Days” by a band called “Tool.” It’s very sad and describes the writer’s mother’s struggles against cancer, and her loss. She battled against cancer for decades before succumbing to her disease, right around 10,000 days.

You…
You believed …
You believed in movements none could see.
You believed in me

A passionate spirit
Uncompromised
Boundless and open
A light in your eyes
Then immobilized.

Broken
Fell at the hands of those movements that I wouldn’t see
Yet it was you who prayed for me.
So what have I done
To be a son to an angel?
What have I done
To be worthy?

Daylight dims leaving cold fluorescents
Difficult to see you in this light
Please forgive this selfish question, but
What am I to say to all these ghouls tonight?
“She never told a lie,
… well might have told a lie,
But never lived one.
Didn’t have a life,
Didn’t have a life,
But surely saved one.”
See? I’m alright
Now it’s time for us to let you go.

Listen to the tales and romanticize,
How we’d follow the path of the hero.
Boast about the day when the rivers overrun.
How we rise to the height of our halo.

Listen to the tales as we all rationalize
Our way into the arms of the savior,
Feigning all the trials and the tribulations;
None of us have actually been there.
Not like you.

Ignorant siblings in the congregation
Gather around spewing sympathy,
Spare me.
None of them can even hold a candle up to you.
Blinded by choice, these hypocrites won’t see.

But, enough about the collective Judas.
Who could deny you were the one who
Illuminated your little piece of the divine?

And this little light of mine, a gift you passed on to me;
I’m gonna let it shine to guide you safely on your way,
Your way home …

Oh, what are they going to do when the lights go down
Without you to guide them all to Zion?
What are they going to do when the rivers overrun
Other than tremble incessantly?

High is the way, but all eyes are upon the ground.
You were the light and the way they’ll only read about.
I only pray, Heaven knows when to lift you out.
Ten thousand days in the fire is long enough;
You’re going home.

You’re the only one who can hold your head up high,
Shake your fists at the gates saying:
“I’ve come home now!
Fetch me the spirit, the son, and the father.
Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended.
It’s time now!
My time now!
Give me my, give me my wings!”

You are the light and way that they will only read about.

Set as I am in my ways and my arrogance,
(With the) burden of proof tossed upon the believers.
You were my witness, my eyes, my evidence,
Judith Marie, unconditional one.

Daylight dims leaving cold fluorescents.
Difficult to see you in this light.
Please forgive this bold suggestion, but
Should you see your Maker’s face tonight,
Look Him in the eye, look Him in the eye, and tell Him:
“I never lived a lie, never took a life, but surely saved one.
Hallelujah, it’s time for you to bring me home.”

My Favorite Artist

My favorite artist is the singer-songwriter, Alanis Morissette. Many people remember her as the singer of “You Oughta Know” or “Ironic” which, as an avid fan is often stifling, as there is so much more to her than those couple of hits. Here is one of my favorite songs from her:

Right vs Left Brain

I took a test on this link:

Apparently I pay attention more with my right brain–which is completely unlike me–I’m a very logical person. (Strange, I know!) It might be due to the fact that I am left-handed and pseud0-ambidextrous.

Art in Fashion

While I’m not really into fashion further than a pair of jeans and some shoes, art shows up in fashion in tons of ways, and it sets the standard for a fad, or a timeless idea in clothing.
